How can an electronic cigarette be unhealthy?

I know of the "dangers" of nicotine poisoning, though I have been a smoker for almost 7 years, and I know my limit and when to stop smoking. Other than that, are there any other negative health effects that can happen through using an electronic cigarette? Please cite sources.

I do not have a whole lot of sources to site because I have learned my information from all kinds of places. However it really does not take some kind of person with a scientific degree to see that electronic cigarettes cannot be near as harmful as electronic cigarettes.

For one it has been proven that traditional cigarettes have over 4000 poisons and at least 46 known carcinogens, not to mention tar. On the other hand an electronic cigarette has nicotine, flavor, propylene glycol and water. Propylene glycol is used in foods like cake mix and baby food.

Here is a good source of information on electronic cigarettes.

Like you said it helps to know your limit and when to stop smoking. When you first start using an electronic cigarette there is always the matter of when is enough since it does not burn up or go out.

For the first 3 or so days I had to count out around 10 – 12 drags and put it down. Now I just seem to have one around me and I take a drag or two every 10 or 15 minutes. However most electronic cigarettes will go and kind of cut you off when you have smoked to much. The one I have will blink 10 times if you hit on it to much.

Here is where I found the electronic cigarette I am currently using.

Hope you found my answer helpful. I personally think that electronic cigarettes are awesome :)

We know for a fact that tobacco cigarettes are not good for your health and contain thousands of toxins.

On the e cigarette side there have not been enough studies to prove that they are better or worse.
Now, if you have to make a decision between proven to be bad (with over 4000 toxins) and the unknown (with a handful of ingredients) – what would you do? I made my decision …

nobody knows just yet, it doesn’t contain the carcinogens or harmful chemicals cigarettes do, but they’re not allowed to say their products are healthy or safe.

The coolest place I’ve found was http://www.orderelectroniccigarette.com

it brings you to the inlife site. their cigarettes are decent and the company is the coolest of all because you can make money selling them. its an mlm/affiliate marketing so you get residuals galore and bianary bonuses etc off of a great product thats about to get big.

the guy who owns the site is a rep for inlife and signing up under him means tons of new reps under you all the time. it’s a no brainer because all other reps dont have any way of generating the bulk he does, how do i know? i signed up, made my money back in a week and have been making decent money for doing nothing, and haven’t smoked in 2 months. well, it’s wierd because we’re not allowed to say how much we make, company policy, but check it out for sure.

That isn’t known yet. What I can tell you is that most or all e cigarettes deliver less nicotine than cigarettes so you’re not going to get nicotine poisoning, not that you would, anyway, as an experienced smoker. Nicotine itself may or may not be harmful to healthy young people over the long run, it isn’t really known at this point, but inferences from the data suggest that in moderation it is not. Questions have been raised about a chemical in the e cigarette "smoke," but again, the answer isn’t known. So the best that can be said right now is that e cigarettes are *probably* safer than regular cigarettes.
